How we write and check our guides
Our guides cover renting a room, sharing a house and living between swings. Here is who writes them, where the facts come from and what to do if we get something wrong.
Who writes the guides
Every guide is written and checked by the Kipmates team, the people who build Kipmates. We sign as a team. There is no named expert behind a guide, and we don’t invent one. We are not lawyers, tax agents or financial advisers.
Where the facts come from
For legal facts, figures and rules, we go to the body that publishes or enforces them: Consumer Protection WA, WA ScamNet, WorkSafe WA, the Australian Taxation Office and other government agencies. We don’t take a rule or a number from a forum, a social post or another blog.
When a community legal centre or a published study explains a point, we name it and link to it. When we quote what people say in Perth room groups, we say so, and it is never the source of a rule or a number.
Every source is linked and dated
Each guide ends with a Sources list. Every source is linked, and the list says when we last checked it, for example “Checked October 2026”. If we can’t find a source for a number, we leave the number out.
What we don’t do
- No legal or tax advice. Our guides are general information. For your own situation, go to the agency named in the guide or to a qualified professional.
- No invented ratings or reviews, on the page or in the data we give search engines.
- No sponsored content disguised as a guide.
Found a mistake?
If something is wrong or out of date, tell us which guide and what you spotted. We check it against the source and correct the guide.
When a rule changes
When a rule or a figure changes, we revise the guides that mention it, check the sources again and update the “Checked” date in the Sources list.
